Cambodia Joins ASEAN Fair 2016 ‘ASEAN Culinary Festival’ and ‘ASEAN Trade Fair’

The ASEAN Fair 2016, the one and only event where one can taste and enjoy variety of ASEAN cuisine and food products in a one place, is being held at COEX, the largest exhibition centre in Korea, on Nov. 2-5, 2016, according to a press release of the ASEAN-Korea Centre AKP received yesterday evening.

Commemorating the ASEAN-Korea Cultural Exchange Year and ASEAN Visit Year in 2017, ASEAN-Korea Centre’s Secretary General H.E. Mr. Kim Young-sun will introduce culinary cultures and competitive food products of ASEAN to the Korean public through two combined events; ‘ASEAN Culinary Festival’ and ‘ASEAN Trade Fair’, pointed out the press release.

H.E. Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre noted, “Food is a universal language that brings people and cultures together. I’m certain that the ASEAN Fair 2016 will serve as a platform to strengthen the partnership between ASEAN and Korea by connecting the hearts and minds of the people and creating a bond over a ‘shared meal of diversity’b.”

‘ASEAN Culinary Festival’ will present delightful ASEAN cuisine made by celebrity chefs from all 10 ASEAN countries. 30 distinctive dishes, 3 from each country, will be served at the ASEAN Culinary Booths; they were selected to suit the Korean palate while showcasing the diverse flavors of ASEAN. Also, Brunei, Malaysia, and Indonesia will serve Halal foods, and more information on Halal will be also provided to the Korean public at the respective booths.

Also, ‘ASEAN Trade Fair’ will invite 100 ASEAN companies from the food and beverage sectors, 10 from each country, to exhibit their competitive products. With the growing popularity of ASEAN foods in Korea, the exhibition is expected draw great attention from Korean buyers. In the last year’s Fair, about 2,000 business meetings were conducted between ASEAN companies and Korean buyers.

The ASEAN Fair 2016 will be held in conjunction with the COEX Food Week Korea, the largest international food exhibition in Korea, which will allow synergy for a greater impact.

The above-mentioned great event is being organised by the ASEAN-Korea Centre and several Cambodian popular dishes such as Lok Lak, Amok and Num Plae Ai will be displayed and served at the event.

The ASEAN-Korea Centre is an international organization mandated to promote economic and socio-cultural cooperation between the ASEAN Member States and the Republic of Korea (RoK).
