Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid disclosed it to the reporters while visiting the textbook printing press at the city's Matuail area here today.
Earlier he visited Mausumi Offset Press, National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB), Bright Printing Press and Ananda Printing Press along with the concerned officials.
For the first time, the NCTB is printing brail books for the blind students of primary to secondary level, said the education minister ,adding that even the books in own mother tongues will be distributed among the pre-primary level children of five ethnic minorities.
Informing that the textbooks will be sent to the school within next fifteen days, Nahid said "already 70-80 per cent books have reached the schools and it is expected that all the books would be sent to the school within next 15 days."
Nationwide Textbook Festival Day will be observed on January 1 next year like what was done in the previous years. The student enrollment in the primary schools is increasing due to various initiatives taken by the government, reducing the number of drop out and that's why the number of books are increasing, the minister pointed out.

As per the agreement with the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), three works of the primary level text books have been given to the foreign organizations. The rest of the books are printed through the local organizations, Nahid said.
A total of 9,703 visually impaired students will get the Braille books this year and 24000 books will be distributed among the primary level students of five ethnic minorities.

Global news- Poland Government will continue on road of mining sector reform - PM
MITRA-MANDAL
During Miner’s Day ceremonies in the city of Jaworzno on Sunday, Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo declared that her government would continue on "the road of reform and change in the mining industry."
Speaking at the Sobieski mine operated by Poland’s Tauron energy group, Szydlo underlined that "the Polish economy will remain based on Polish coal" and that the goal of reforms undertaken by her government in the mining industry is to ensure "development and modernisation based on the latest technologies."
She also remarked that the government policies are taking the most flak "from those who did not do anything for the mining industry during the previous eight years; those who did not carry out any changes, those who were not investing, even though they had in their hands all the tools with which to save the Polish mining industry."
Szydlo said government efforts are beginning to produce results, "but this is just the beginning of a road that requires more work for many months before the mining sector becomes modern, development-oriented and safe."
"We have a plan, we have a schedule, and we are determined to press ahead with stabilisation in the mining sector," she said.
On Sunday morning, before visiting Jaworzno, Szydlo took part in a Miner’s Day parade and attended a special Catholic Mass in her hometown of Brzeszcze. (PAP)
