Astronaut's first diary from space

by Xinhua special correspondent Jing Haipeng
ABOARD TIANGONG-2, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Today is the first day that our flight crew moved into the space complex for theShenzhou-11 mission. It is 10:05 p.m. now, and we haven't finished our work yet.
I'm told people are concerned about our life here in space. Tutuping'an, a net user of Xinhua mobile app, is curious about how we sleep and have meal in the space lab. I should say Chen Dong and I feel fulfilled in work, and we really want to go to bed now. As we were so busy in the morning, docking Shenzhou-11 and Tiangong-2 and then entering Tiangong-2 of the complex, we had no time for dinner. We ate only one meal for breakfast and lunch. They were largely ready-to-eat foods, or what we often say snacks. We took few staple food. We did heat rice and noodle, but in a little while forgot all about them. We are to make up for the meal at night.
This is my third time to fly into space. This is also my second time to enter Tiangong. Tiangong-1 was quite well, but Tiangong-2 is much more comfortable. It is perfect in layout, decoration and matching of colors.
Speaking of the family, I remember I said when meeting the press that half of the credit should be given to our family members. Chen Dong and I talked about it today, and we agreed with that.
At this very moment, Chen Dong and I miss you so much in Tiangong-2. I want to tell you, dear comrades from the astronaut brigade, that in the past 18 years, we have taken meals at the same table, attended class in the same room, and played basketball in the same court. In the 18 years, we have worked together, lived together, received training together, and chased dream together. We are as dear to each other as members of one family. I know you are standing guard, cheering us on, and on duty for us. And we salute you all!

U.S. Voters' deep dislike for both major-party

WASHINGTON, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- American voters' deeply dislike for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and her Republican rival Donald Trump has barely changed from January polling at the very beginning of the two major parties' primaries, according to a new national poll issued Thursday.
Currently only 40 and 29 percent of voters held positive views of Clinton and Trump, respectively, the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds. The proportion is the same as in January.
Half of voters now have negative views of the former secretary of state, up one percent from January.
Meanwhile, negative perception of the New York billionaire has increased to 63 percent of voters, up from 58 percent in January.
Despite venomous exchanges of personal attacks which have defined the campaign, polling in a head-to-head race between Clinton and Trump also ends up right where it was in January, according to the poll, showing Clinton has a 10-point advantage over Trump, 51 percent to 41 percent, the same level as in January.
However, the poll suggests that Clinton has made some progress in improving her image -- She trailed Trump by 16 percentage points on the question of which candidate was more honest and straight forward, now she trails by only 4 points.
It comes as little surprise that neither candidate has succeeded in making more people enthusiastic about a Trump or Clinton presidency, said a Wall Street Journal report, quoting Peter Hart, a Democratic pollster working on the poll.
"If you think the basic tenet of a campaign is to destroy your opponent, then in that case they have fulfilled their duties," said Hart.
Impressions of Clinton and Trump, both household names long before they started their campaigns, "had already been formed over years, if not decades," said Jeff Horwitt, another Democratic pollster working on the Journal/NBC poll, noting such longstanding views can be hard to change.
"We're going to elect, no matter who it is, the most unpopular president in the history of polling going back to the 1930s," Horwitt was quoted as saying.

Indian forces kill Pakistani teacher, injure 5 people along LoC: army

ISLAMABAD, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan army said Thursday that a school teacher has been killed while three children and two women injured in "unprovoked firing" by Indian forces.
The casualties occurred during the overnight cross-border shelling along the Line of Control (LoC), which divides the two countries in the disputed Kashmir region, a military statement said.
Escalation has been seen at the LoC since the suspected militants attacked a military base in the Indian-controlled Kashmir last month.
"1 x Civilian, Abdul Rehman, age 28 years, resident of village Palani embraced Shahadat (Martyrdom) due to Indian unprovoked firing," a military statement said early Thursday.
Five people including a one-and-half year old girl, a teenager boy, a 11 year boy and two ladies of age 40 & 50 years in village Palani in Karela sector," the statement from the army's Inter-Services Public Relations said.
"Pakistani troops befittingly responded to the Indian firing," the statement further said.
The recent tension along the LoC area is the outcome of an attack on a base camp of Indian army in Uri sector of the Indian-controlled Kashmir on Sept. 18, which left 19 Indian soldiers dead.
New Delhi blamed Pakistan-based militant group "Jaish-e-Mohammad" and suspected Islamabad's role in the attack, but Islamabad rejected the accusation.
Pakistan and India declared ceasefire along the LoC in 2003. However, border troops occasionally trade fire for which both sides accuse each other.
