Qatar Committed To Assist Muslim Countries To Achieve National Reconciliation
161 views
New York, September 24 (QNA) - The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, HE Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, has stressed that the State of Qatar spares no effort to help brotherly Muslim countries to achieve national reconciliation away from any form of discrimination.
In this context, HE Al Muraikhi pointed to HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani' s efforts, which led to the resolution of the border conflict between Djibouti and Eritrea, achieving a fair and peaceful settlement based on principles of good neighborliness and mutual respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty within the internationally recognized borders and the release of all Djiboutian prisoners of war.
On the Palestinian cause, HE Al Muraikhi said in his statement delivered before the Annual Coordination Meeting (ACM) of the Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held on the sidelines of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Palestine, in particular Al Quds, is the central issue for the Islamic nation, so the lack of a solution to the Palestinian cause is the main challenge not only to the Muslim world but also the whole world.
The continued Israeli occupation, settlement policy and the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip along with other violations and practices against the Palestinian people constitute a major obstacle to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East and represent a flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law and the resolutions of international legitimacy, he explained.
HE Al Muraikhi drew attention to the grave ongoing attacks and violations against the holy sites and places in Al Quds, urging the Islamic nation to protect and preserve them from the Israeli attacks based on international law and by keeping the Al Quds issue always present in our consciousness, the Muslim media's discourse and all international forums.
The Islamic nation shall remind the international community that the Israeli measures in East Jerusalem, including the Al-Aqsa Mosque, are null and have no legal effect, he went on saying.
On the crisis in Syria represents another grave challenge for the Islamic nation, HE Al Muraikhi said, noting that the Syrian people endures an 'unprecedented ' suffering in the modern history as the number of victims has reached nearly half a million of Syrians with millions of internally displaced and refugees in addition to the serious effects of terrorism on Syria and the region resulting of systematic Syrian regime's policy foccussed on imposing a blockade on civilians, depriving them of the most basic necessities of life, adopting a forced displacement to implement a demographic plan based on sectarian and security grounds, and using of all kinds of weapons against civilians, including chemical weapons.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs urged the OIC to take a strong position to support the Syrian people, put an end to their long suffering, and support international efforts to reach a political solution in accordance with the Geneva I Communique in order to preserve Syria's unity, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He referred in this regard to Qatar's continuous efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to the Syrian brotherly people since the beginning of the crisis, stressing that Qatar exerts all efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis and enhance security and stability in the region as well.
The State of Qatar continues supporting our brothers in Yemen to restore stability, HE Al Muraikhi said, reiterating that the solution for Yemen's crisis shall be achieved based on national consensus incorporating the GCC initiative, outcomes of national dialogue conference, the UN Security Council Resolution 2216 and the relevant Security Council resolutions.
Empowering and supporting Libya's Government of National Accord are the key factors to restore security and stability in the brotherly country, countering terrorism and dealing with its effects, HE Al Muraikhi said.
He warned of the intervention in Libyan affairs, which would increase the complexity of the crisis and impede progress to achieve national consensus.
HE Al Muraikhi stressed the continuous suffering of the abducted Qatari Citizens in Iraq and their families since entering the Iraqi territory legally in the month of December 2015 with the coordination of the competent Iraqi authorities.
In light of the humanitarian nature of this issue and considering that that kidnapping is a terrorist act, a flagrant violation of international law and human rights, which is contrary to the provisions of the Islamic religion, we look forward to lead efforts to secure the release of the Qatari abductees and their safe return to their homeland and their families as soon as possible, HE Al Muraikhi concluded. War no solution, we have nothing to do with Uri attack: Pak envoy
New Delhi, Sep 25 (UNI) Finding no place to hide after India launched an all out diplomatic attack on Pakistan, its envoy to New Delhi Abdul Basit has urged India not to allow 'war hysteria,' as war was not a solution to any problem.
He rejected India's charge that Pakistan was a 'terrorist state', saying that such verbosity will serve no purpose.
In an interview to Kolkata based English daily Telegraph, the Pakistani High Commissioner described post-Uri situation as tough and hoped that it can be retrieved diplomatically.

march against same-sex marriage in Mexico

Dressed mainly in white and carrying white balloons, the marchers held banners warning against same-sex marriage and demanding parents' right to control sex education in schools. "We are not against anybody's (sexual) identity," said Abraham Ledesma, an evangelical pastor who traveled from the border city of Reynosa, across the border from McAllen, Texas, to participate in Saturday's march. "What we are against is the government imposition ... of trying to impose gender ideology in education. As religious leaders, we don't want to be forced to marry same-sex couples and call it marriage."
Others carried signs saying "an adopted child deserves a mother and a father." On the other side of a police barricade separating the two sides at Mexico's Independence Monument, a far smaller crowd of same-sex marriage supporters — perhaps a couple hundred — listened to music and speeches.
"They may be the majority," said Felipe Quiroz, a gay activist and school teacher. "But just because they are the majority, doesn't mean they can take rights away from minorities. That would lead us to a dark period, to fundamentalism."
Many saw the massive march as the Roman Catholic church flexing its political muscle in a country where about 80 percent of people identify as nominally Catholic. In May, Pena Nieto proposed legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide. It is currently legal only in some places such as Mexico City, the northern state of Coahuila and Quintana Roo state on the Caribbean coast.
But in June, Pena Nieto's party suffered unprecedented losses in midterm governorship elections, and his party has since put the proposal on the back burner in Congress. Activists say opposition to same-sex marriage played a role.
Jose Medrano, a university professor, came to Saturday's march from the northern state of Chihuahua, where the ruling party lost the governorship in June to the conservative, pro-Catholic National Action party.
"We may have influenced this, because the proposal (for same-sex marriage) was presented just a few weeks before the elections, and a lot of people were against it," said Medrano

Trump says he'd champion women

As Trump campaigned in the battleground state of Virginia, Clinton stayed close to home in New York while preparing for Monday night's opening debate. She was spotted at a Westchester hotel near her home in Chappaqua, but her campaign would not comment on whether she was holding practice sessions at the hotel.
Clinton and Trump were expected to meet separately on Sunday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has sought to project neutrality in this year's election. There were perceptions that he favored Mitt Romney over President Barack Obama in 2012.
Trump told supporters at a rally Saturday in Roanoke, Virginia, that Clinton has not delivered for women and children. "My opponent likes to say that for decades she's been fighting for women, that she's been fighting for children. Why, then, are 70 million American women and children living in poverty or on the brink of poverty in our country?" Trump asked. "For years she's been doing this and she's done nothing."
The appeal came hours after Trump threatened on Twitter to invite a woman who'd had an affair with Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton, to sit in the first row at their first debate. The Clinton campaign had invited Mark Cuban, a fellow billionaire and Trump rival, to the event.
"If dopey Mark Cuban of failed Benefactor fame wants to sit in the front row, perhaps I will put Gennifer Flowers right alongside of him!" Trump said. Trump's campaign officials did not respond to requests for comment on Saturday, and it remained unclear whether Flowers would actually attend.
Earlier Saturday, one of Clinton's supporters, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, accused Trump and his fellow Republicans of "making hate OK." She told Clinton campaign volunteers in Nashua, New Hampshire, that she never predicted a major presidential candidate would base a campaign on scapegoating Mexicans, women and Muslims.
Warren was particularly critical of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who denounced Trump in the primary campaign but announced Friday that he strongly opposed Clinton and would vote for his former rival. "Is that really what your word is worth, Ted Cruz?" she asked.
In Texas, Cruz described as "agonizing" his decision to announce that he would vote for Trump but denied that he had given in to pressure to support his rival for the Republican nomination. His announcement Friday, from which the word "endorsement" was conspicuously absent, drew criticism because of his longstanding antipathy for the man he had called a "pathological liar."
"Any path we took, if I supported Donald, if I didn't support Donald, the criticism was going to be there," Cruz told a packed Austin auditorium during a policy forum organized by The Texas Tribune. He had refused to endorse Trump at the Republican National Convention and instead urged Republicans to vote according to their conscience.
Trump's running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, assured home-schooling advocates in North Carolina that Trump would be their champion if elected. Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia, Clinton's running mate, praised American Indian culture and highlighted his efforts to win federal recognition of the state's tribes while visiting the Chickahominy Indian Tribe Fall Festival near his home in Richmond.
Associated Press writers Ken Thomas in New York; Kathleen Ronayne in Nashua, New Hampshire; Will Weissert in Austin, Texas; Bill Barrow in Des Moines, Iowa; and Alan Suderman in Richmond, Virginia, contributed to this report.

Pakistan to further intensify campaign over IoK situation:

Pakistan to further intensify campaign over IoK situation: Maleeha
ISLAMABAD, Sept 24 (APP): Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi Saturday said that Pakistan would further intensify its efforts to expose Indian occupied forces’ atrocities in the Occupied Kashmir.
Replying to various queries in a private television talk show,
she said in the near future, Pakistan would consult all the members of the United Nations Security Council and seek ways to implement the UN resolutions on the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK).
Referring to the Prime Minister’s speech at the 71st United
Nations General Assembly session, Maleeha said Pakistan was ready for bilateral talks, but in fact, it was India which had shut doors on the dialogue.
On one hand, India was defying the UN resolutions and on the other, it was not giving access to the fact findings missions in the occupied valley, she added.
She termed such tactics ‘no talks pastures’ on part of the
Indian government. Pakistan, she said, wanted a peaceful settlement of the issue.
Pakistan wanted to engage India through comprehensive dialogue process and definitely, it would push its narrative over the Indian views, she added.
She also regretted the diplomatic language used by the Indian leadership against Pakistan.
Dr Maleeha said the dossier handed over to the global leaders contained facts about the IoK situation.
The world had acknowledged Pakistan’s immense sacrifices in the war against terrorism and reiterated support to the country, she replied in response to a question.
She said the world knew how the Kashmir movement started in the IoK in the backdrop of killing of a young Kashmiri leader, followed by inhuman atrocities committed by the Indian occupied forces against the whole populace, but now, this movement had reached to its peak.

OIC FMs reaffirm support to Kashmiris' right of self-determination, call for monitoring human rights situation
UNITED NATIONS, Sept 24 (APP): Reaffirming their support to the Kashmiri people’s right of self-determination, foreign ministers of Islamic countries have called for the resolution of the decades-old Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India.
At their annual coordination meeting, the foreign ministers of 57 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) adopted the reports of various OIC Contact Groups, including the one on Jammu & Kashmir, which also called on the Organization’s Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission to monitor the human rights situation in Kashmir and submit a report to the next session of the Council of Ministers.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 71st session of the U.N. General Assembly, was chaired by Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, Foreign Minister of Kuwait and attended by Foreign Ministers of member states and Secretary-General of the OIC Iyad Ameen Madani.

As a result, over 100 innocent Kashmiris had lost their lives while thousands of Kashmiri men, women and children were injured, many seriously. The deliberate and indiscriminate  use of pellet guns against Kashmiris had caused blindness to 150 youth.
The Adviser called on the international community to demand that the state-sponsored policies of suppression in Indian Occupied Kashmir are ceased, fundamental rights of the Kashmiris are respected and the UNSC resolutions providing Kashmiris their right to self-determination are implemented by India.
The Adviser also reaffirmed Pakistan unwavering support to the cause  of Palestine, and restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East  and Afghanistan.

The meeting inter-alia adopted the report of the OIC Contact Group  on Jammu and Kashmir, calling upon the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission, to monitor the human rights situation in Kashmir, and to  submit a report to the next session of the Council of Ministers.
A delegation of the True Representatives of the Kashmiri People, also spoke on the occasion, and apprised the meeting of the latest situation  in the occupied territory.
