Bishkek (AKIpress) - The Federal Security Service (FSB) said it has arrested 10 Central Asians who planned terrorist attacks in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
FSB did not specify the countries the detainees were from, but said they had contacts with ISIS.
“The detainees confessed to having contacts with the leaders of the Islamic State, a terrorist organization banned in the Russian territory... and having associates and accomplices both inside and outside Russia,” the FSB's statement said.
It added that the arrests were made in cooperation with security services of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, backed by the Russian Interior Ministry.
FSB seized explosives, weapons, ammunition and communications equipment from the detainees. According to preliminary data, they were planning "Paris-like terrorist attacks."
